Abstract:

It is seen that adolescents who use technology intensively are exposed to bullying in cyber environments and their attempts to solve this situation are limited. In this sense, interventions are needed to solve the problem in question. In this study, it was aimed to examine the effect of the psycho-education program based on human values on the sensitivity and coping levels of adolescents regarding cyberbullying. The study group of the research, which was designed according to the quasi-experimental design, included a total of 20 male secondary school students, 10 in the experimental group and 10 in the control group, studying at the 9th, 10th and 11th grades in a secondary education institution in the Black Sea region. Personal Information Form, Cyberbullying Sensitivity Scale and Adolescents' Cyberbullying Coping Scale were used as data collection tools in the research. A training program consisting of 8 sessions and in which a human value came to the fore in each session was applied to the experimental group. The families of the students in the experimental group were given a two-session training on cyberbullying. No intervention was made in the control group. The results of the pre-test, post-test and follow-up test after 2 months were analyzed with the two-factor analysis of variance technique. The findings showed that psycho-education program centered on human values, effectively heightened the sensitivity and coping levels of adolescents related to cyberbullying. As a result, it can be said that the intervention program based on values has an effect on cyberbullying, which is one of the current important problems of adolescents.
