Abstract:

Historically, women’s movements, which started in our country during the Constitutional years, were strengthened in the 1970s and institutionalized in the 1990s. Today, a large number of civil society and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) are active in the field of women’s rights and try to be heard in various media. NGOs in the field should give importance to public relations in order to reach a large mass as much as possible especially for the issues such as prevention of violence against women and children which its success is related to social responsibility sharing. Women NGOs perform various activities in different media to gain social support, such as other voluntary organizations. Internet and social media platforms are one of the main tools women NGOs use to reach the public. What is important here is how these organizations give information about different subjects in their fields in other words how they frame their messages. Because framing can affect personal and social perception. In this study, which aims to make the framing analysis of the web sites and Facebook shares of ten women NGOs working in our country, sharings have been analyzed according to the three basic framing strategies of the social movements which suggested by Gamson (1992) as social, consensus and collective action frames. As a result of the framing analysis supported by content analysis, it is concluded that the most preferred frame of these NGOs is the collective action frame.
