İŞKOLİKLİK VE GİRİŞİMCİ KİŞİLİK ÖZELLİKLERİ: EĞİTMENLER ÜZERİNE BİR ÇALIŞMA

Abstract:

Günümüz rekabet koşulları bireylerin daha fazla çalışmasını gerektirmekte; diğer taraftan bireylerin kişilik özellikleri iş hayatında farklı bakış açısı ve davranışlara neden olmaktadır. İşine son derece bağlı olma ve ara vermeden sürekli çalışma durumu aşırı çalışma olarak ifade edilmektedir. Bu durum kişinin sağlığını, mutluluğunu ve diğer kişilerle olan ilişkilerini negatif yönde etkileyecek düzeyde aşırı ve kontrol edilemez bir gereksinim olarak ortaya çıkmaktadır. İşkoliklik bazı bilim insanlarına göre hem birey için hem de örgüt için olumlu bir davranış olarak görülürken, bazı bilim insanlarına göre psikolojik bir rahatsızlıktır. Girişimci bireyler yenilikçi, risk alan, değişim odaklı, fırsatlara odaklanmış ve yaratıcı olarak ifade edilmektedir. Bunların yanında girişimcilerin kişilik özelliklerine bağlı olarak, gelişmiş iletişim becerisi, değişime açık olma, yüksek başarı isteği ve kararlı olma gibi özellikler de yer almaktadır. Bu özellikler bireyin finansal başarı sağlamak ve itibar sahibi olmak için kendini işe adamasına yol açmaktadır. Araştırmanın amacı; kurumsal eğitim veren eğitmenlerde işkoliklik ve girişimci kişilik ilişkisini incelemektir. Araştırmanın örneklemini İstanbul çerçevesinde çeşitli üniversite ve danışmanlık firmalarında kurumsal eğitim veren 500 eğitmen oluşturmaktadır. Örneklemin en önemli özelliği hem sektör tecrübesi hem de akademisyenlik yanı olan kişilerden oluşmasıdır. Araştırma sonucunda işkoliklik ile girişimci kişilik arasında istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı ve pozitif ilişki tespit edilmiştir. Buna göre; İşkolik olan bireylerde girişimci kişilik özellikleri normal bireylere göre daha fazladır. Diğer taraftan; girişimcilik ile aşırı çalışma arasında pozitif yönlü zayıf kuvvetli ve girişimcilik ile kompulsif çalışma arasında pozitif yönlü zayıf kuvvetli ilişki bulunmaktadır.

Today’s competition conditions require individuals to work more; on the other hand, individual personality characteristics cause different perspectives and behaviors in the business life. The state of continuous work without interruption is expressed as excessive work. This situation occurs as an excessive and uncontrollable requirement to a level that will negatively affect a person’s health, happiness and relationships with others. Occupational collapse is seen as a positive behavior for both the individual and the organization, while some scientists say it is a psychological disorder. Entrepreneurial individuals are expressed as innovative, risk-related, exchange-oriented, opportunity-focused and creative. In addition, depending on entrepreneurs’ personality characteristics, they include advanced communication skills, being open to change, a high desire for success, and being determined. These characteristics lead the individual to engage himself in order to financial success and to gain reputation. The purpose of the research is to study the relationship between employment and entrepreneurial personality in the educational institutions. The sample of the research is made up of 500 teachers who provide corporate education in various universities and consultancy firms within the framework of Istanbul. The most important feature of the sample is that it consists of people with both industry experience and academic side. The study found a statistically meaningful and positive relationship between employment and entrepreneurial personality. According to this, the business personality characteristics in the employed individuals are greater than the normal individuals. On the other hand, between entrepreneurship and overwork there is a positive strong weak and positive weak relationship between entrepreneurship and compulsive work.

Today's competitive conditions require individuals to work harder; the personality traits of individuals from the other side cause different perspectives and behaviors in business life. Extremely tied to work and continuous work without interruption are often referred to as overwork. This situation emerges as an excessive and uncontrollable need to influence one's health, happiness and relationships with others in the negative direction. Workholism is seen as a positive behavior for both the individual and the organization according to some scientists, but it is a psychological discomfort according to some scientists. Entrepreneurial individuals are innovative, risk-taking, change-focused, focused on opportunities and creative. In addition to these, according to personality characteristics of entrepreneurs, advanced communication skills, openness to change, high desire for success and determination are also included. These traits lead to self-employment for the individual to achieve financial success and to have a reputation. Purpose of the research; examine the relationship between workholism and entrepreneurial personality in the institutional training instructors. The sample of the research consists of 500 instructors who provide institutional training in various universities and consultancy firms in Istanbul. The most important characteristic of the sample is the combination of both sector experience and academics. As a result of the research, statistically meaningful and positive relationship was found between workholism and entrepreneurial personality. According to this; Entrepreneurial personality traits are more common in normal people than in normal people. On the other hand; there is a positive strong weak correlation between entrepreneurship and overwork and a weak positive relationship between entrepreneurship and compulsive work.
