Ortaokul Öğrencilerinin Polise Yönelik Tutumlarının İncelenmesi

Abstract:

Bu çalışmanın amacı ortaokul öğrencilerinin polise yönelik tutumlarının farklı değişkenler açısından incelemektir. Bu araştırma nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden, betimsel tarama deseni ile hazırlanmıştır. Tarama deseni; bir evren içinde seçilen bir örneklem üzerinde yapılan çalışmalar yoluyla evren genelindeki eğilim, tutum veya görüşlerin nicel veya nümerik olarak betimlenmesini sağlar (Creswell, 2013:155).Araştırmanın çalışma grubu Sivas ili merkezinde bulunan 4 okuldaki 510 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Çalışma grubu ortaokul öğrencilerinden rastgele örneklem yöntemi kullanılarak oluşturulmuştur. Araştırmada, ortaokul öğrencilerinin polise yönelik tutumlarını belirlemek amacıyla Demirbaş ve Demir (2014) tarafından geliştirilen Polise Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Veri toplama araçlarının uygulanmasından sonra, elde edilen veriler, PASW 18 programı kullanılarak bilgisayar ortamında istatistiksel işleme tabi tutulmuş; parametrik dağılıma sahip olan veriler üzerinde frekans ve yüzde değerleri hesaplanmış, değişkenlerin durumuna göre, t-testi ve tekyönlü varyans analizleri yapılmıştır. Ortaokul öğrencilerinin polise yönelik tutumları farklı değişkenler açısından farklılık gösterebildiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin aile gelir düzeyine göre polise yönelik tutum puanları ortalamalarının farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığının belirlenmesine yönelik yapılan analiz sonucunda grup ortalamaları arasındaki fark istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı değildir. Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin polise yönelik tutum puanları ortalamalarının cinsiyet değişkenine göre farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığının belirlenmesine yönelik yapılan analiz sonucunda cinsiyet değişkenine göre ortaokul öğrencilerinin polise yönelik tutum puanları arasında anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmuştur. Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin kitap okuma sıklığı ile polise yönelik tutumları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark görülmektedir.

The aim of this study is to examine the attitudes of high school students towards the police in terms of different variables. This research is prepared from quantum research methods, with the imagistic scan design. The scan pattern allows the study on a selected sample within an universe to describe the tendencies, attitudes or views throughout the universe quantitatively or numerically (Creswell, 2013:155).The study group consists of 510 students in 4 schools in the center of the Sivas state. The work group was created using the random sampling method from high school students. In the study, the police-oriented attitude scale developed by Demirbaş and Iron (2014) was used to determine the attitudes of high school students towards the police. After the implementation of data collection tools, the obtained data was subject to statistical processing in the computer environment using the PASW 18 program; the frequency and percentage values on the data with parametric distribution were calculated, according to the state of the variables, t-test and unilateral variance analyses were carried out. The high school students’ attitudes towards the police could be different in terms of variables. According to the study, the difference between the group average is not statistically meaningful in the analysis to determine whether the average attitude points to the police are differentiated or not. According to the study, an analysis to determine whether the average attitude points of the students to the police vary by gender variable, found a significant difference between the attitude points of the high school students to the police according to gender variable. There is a statistically significant difference between the frequency of students reading books and their attitudes towards the police.

The purpose of this study is to examine the attitudes of secondary school students towards police in terms of different variables. This study has been prepared with the descriptive survey design which is among quantitative research methods. A survey design provides a quantitative or numeric description of trends, attitudes, or opinions of a population by studying a sample of that population (Creswell, 2013:155). The sample of the research consists of the 510 students studying in secondary schools in the city center of Sivas. The sample of the study consists of 4 secondary schools, selected by random sample method, in Sivas city center. In order to determine the attitudes of the students towards police, The Attitude Scale towards police developed by Demirbaş and Demir (2014) was used in the study. After the data collection tools were administered, the data obtained were analyzed using PASW 18 using descriptive statistics, frequency, percentage t‐test and one‐way ANOVA. As a consequence, the attitudes of secondary students towards police may vary according to different variables. After the analysis made to determine whether there is a differentiation in averages of the attitudes points of the students in terms of family incomes, it has not been found that the difference between the group averages is statistically meaningful. After the analysis to determine the attitudes of the students towards police. There has been found a meaningful difference between the attitude point averages towards police according to gender variable. In terms of the frequency of reading books rates of the students who participated in the research and their attitudes towards police there was a statistically meaningful difference.
