Abstract:

This study aims to determine the level of social media quieting university students. To determine this level, data of 270 students studying at 9 universities in Istanbul have been analyzed. According to the results of the analysis, when students generally don’t like conversations on social media, when they don’t like social media sharing, when they love spending time on social media, when they stay too long, when they share with people outside their friend’s surroundings, they are silent. Students prefer to be in a social environment rather than spend time on social media. In general, considering the average score of Silence Perception (2,73), the conclusion was that university students had a low perception of social media silence.
