The purpose of this study was to analyze the relation between communication and empathy skills of undergraduate freshman students in health and social field registered to Turgut Ozal University. Research group was consisted from the Faculties of Medical, Law, Economics and Administrative Sciences, Engineering, and Colleges of Health Services, Nursing, and Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation. Relational screening modal was used for the research purposes. Total of 491 freshman students was voluntarily involved into study. Communication Skills Evaluation Scale (CSES) and Empathy Skills Scale-B (ESS) were used for data collection purposes. Findings revealed that there were significant differences in communication skills of students in terms of gender. On the other hand, significant differences in empathy skills were not observed for the same variable. When data were analyzed in terms of registered school type, both communication and empathy skills of students showed significant differences. It has been suggested that hands on activities, seminars and educational meetings would improve students’ communication and empathy skills.
