Abstract:

Spacesyntax is a research method developed by Bill HILLIER and Julienne HANSON and it is based on human movements and perception. This method is used in order to recognize the cities and internal structures of the buildings. In this study, the terminology and analysis about the Spacesyntax method will be elaborated. The connection between some methods/procedures of geography and this method that is used in other disciplines is also mentioned. The usability of this method in Geography is discussed with the obtained results. In this study, it is aimed to raise awareness about the subject and to evaluate the integration of this method to Geography. It is also aimed to construct a background for the upcoming studies about Geographic researches using Spacesyntax method.
