Social networks have become an indispensable part of friendship relations. Especially young people use social networks intensively to establish new friendships and to expand their communication channels. The aim of this study is to determine the factors that affecting the initiation and termination of friendship in social networks as well as general Facebook usage habits of individuals. For this purpose, a web-based questionnaire was applied. At the end of the research, although the majority of the users were friends with their brothers on Facebook, it was found that the users who were friends with their parents were in the minority. Besides, it has been seen that making friends with their parents makes their sharing more careful. Almost all of the participants agree that they do not make racist and sexist shares. The sharing types that affect the decision to unfriending, respectively; irrelevant, frequent and political sharing. There was no relationship between the gender, class and income levels of the participants and their acceptance of friendship request from people they did not know. This research contributes to the extension of the relevant literature. Implications of the research, were discussed in the section conclusions and recommendations
