Turkish political life is a process that continues with Presidency Government System on today. During this historic period, many pains have been experienced which may be considered as negative, such as riots, economic dilemmas, government crises, weak coalition governments, coups and coup attempts. The Sheikh Said Rebellion, as an example of these negativities, was a rebellion movement against the legitimate government in the early years of the Republic. This rebellion movement, which emerged by using religious discourses in order to influence the social structure, has produced a number of consequences in domestic and foreign policy. This process, which led to the closure of the Progressive Republican Party during the transition to multi-party political life, caused the state to encounter some negative situations in foreign policy. The Mosul question, one of the major problem areas in foreign policy, has been concluded against the state in this process. Due to the rebellion, the negativity of the state in domestic and foreign policy has required the illumination of all aspects of this process. In the effort to reveal the main purpose of the revolt, the personality of Sheikh Said, the political conditions of the period, the development process and the results of the revolt were investigated. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the main purpose of this rebellion movement, which developed with religious discourses, was for the rejection of legitimate republican administration. Other studies on the subject include the emphasis on ethnic identity, but the main source of the rebellion movement in this study is the effect of religion on politics. The aim of this study, which emerged from the aforementioned, is to reveal the effects of this rebellion on the Turkish political life by explaining the Sheikh Said Rebellion which evolved as an uprising against the democratic legitimate order.
