Aging is a non-recycling, inevitable and physiologic process, which affects all systems. The general population of elderly people in the world has been growing rapidly. Today one out of every 10 people is over 65 years old and elderly population has increased by 6.3% within the last 30 years. A similar increase was observed in Turkey too andelderly population is being predicted to be 2-3 times larger in the forthcoming 30 years. Considering the varying aging characteristics of pupulation, the healthcare needs of the elderly people becomes very important. In the studies elderly people expressed that they prefered to stay and be cared at their own houses. In our country that is not suppliedcomprehensive elderly care services, it is difficult to say efficient homecare for elderly. Although there are comprehensive homecare system for elder people in the western country, it is emphasized they have still some problems on this issue. That more and more women have been getting involved in working outside their house, returning to nucleus family, houses not meeting the standart accomadation and the reasons such as economic problems makes it difficult to care for the old people in the family. When the situation is taken into consideration it has been understood that should be concentrated more on the studies regarding health care services for elderly.
