Abstract:

The age we live in has become a state where change and transformation have accelerated compared to the past periods of humanity and sometimes it cannot even be controlled. When looking at the factors driving this accelerated change and transformation in today's societies, it is seen that the concepts of technology and digitalization are in the first place. On the other hand, this process significantly affected the structural mechanisms, daily life, social characteristics and norms. In other words, with the digitalization of society, many vital concepts such as our emotions, thoughts, behaviors, habits, relationship styles, needs, problems, service provision and expectations are also restructured. This new digital society order built by digital transformation through society, people and life; as in other professions and disciplines, it has created the need to develop some changes, transformations and new perspectives in the intervention techniques, approaches and service delivery of social work, which focuses on people, their environment and society. At this point, as it is included in the planned intervention process, first of all, an acquaintance and pre-evaluation process regarding the digital society is required. This study draws attention to the roles and responsibilities of social work in the digital society in order to respond to the new needs, differentiating problems and changes in the fields of work that arise with the digitalization of society and life in the information age. It also aims for social workers and social scientists to gain perspective on the new form of society, digital society.
