FİNANSAL OKURYAZARLIK DÜZEYİ: MESLEK YÜKSEKOKULU ÖĞRENCİLERİ ÜZERİNE BİR ARAŞTIRMA

Dijital çağın gerektirdiği okuryazarlık alanlarından biri olarak değerlendirilen finansal okuryazarlık kavramını, kişilerin finansal olaylar ve finansal uygulamalar hakkında bilgi sahibi olması ve sahip olduğu bu finansal bilgi sayesinde gelirini etkin bir şekilde yönetebilmesi, bunun yanı sıra doğru yatırım ve tasarruflara yönelerek kişisel bütçe kontrolünü sağlaması olarak ifade edebiliriz. Kişilerin finansal konularda bilgi sahibi olması, tasarrufların arttırılması yoluyla kıt finansal kaynakların doğru kullanılmasına ve finansal risklerin doğru yönetilmesi ile mikro düzeyde kişinin, makro düzeyde ise ülkelerin politika ve stratejilerine yön vermesi ve toplumun refahını arttırması açısından önemli bir etkendir. Kişilerin erken yaşlarda yüksek finansal bilgi düzeyine sahip olması finansal konularda daha doğru ve sağlıklı kararlar almasını sağlayarak, olası ekonomik riskleri yönetebilmesine ve fırsatları kullanılabilmesine katkı sağlayacaktır. Bu araştırmada, meslek yüksekokulu öğrencilerinin finansal okuryazarlık düzeyinin tespiti yapılmış ve finansal okuryazarlık düzeyi ile demografik değişkenler arasındaki ilişki incelenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, meslek yüksekokulu öğrencilerinin, finansal okuryazarlık düzeyi ile çeşitli demografik değişkenler arasında anlamlı ilişkisi olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmada meslek yüksekokulu öğrencilerinin finansal okuryazarlık düzeyinin düşük olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

Abstract:

The concept of financial literature, which is considered one of the fields of literature that the digital age requires, can be expressed as the fact that individuals are aware of financial events and financial practices and through this financial knowledge they possess can effectively manage their income, as well as to provide personal budget control by addressing the right investments and savings. The knowledge of individuals in financial matters is an important factor for the proper use of poor financial resources and the proper management of financial risks by increasing savings, and for the direction of people at the micro and macro level to the policies and strategies of countries and to the improvement of the welfare of society. Having a high level of financial knowledge at an early age will help people manage potential economic risks and take advantage of opportunities by making more accurate and healthy financial decisions. In this study, the level of financial literature of professional college students was identified and the relationship between the level of financial literature and demographic variables was studied. The research finds that professional high school students have a meaningful relationship between the level of financial literature and the various demographic variables. The study found that the level of financial literacy of professional high school students was low.

We can express the concept of financial literacy, which is considered as one of the literacy areas required by the digital age, that people have information about financial events and financial practices and that they can manage their income effectively thanks to this financial information, as well as providing personal budget control by turning towards the right investments and savings. Persons having knowledge of financial matters is an important factor to use scarce financial resources by increasing savings correctly, to manage the financial risks correctly and direct the policies and strategies of people at the micro level and of the countries at the macro level and to increase the welfare of society. The fact that people have a high level of financial knowledge at an early age will enable them to make more accurate and sound decisions on financial matters, and will contribute to managing potential economic risks and utilizing opportunities. In this study, financial literacy level of vocational school students was determined and the relationship between financial literacy level and demographic variables was examined. As a result of the research, it was determined that vocational school students had a significant relationship between financial literacy level and various demographic variables. In the research, it was determined that the vocational school students' financial literacy level was low.
