Aim: This descriptive study aimed to determine the attitudes of midwives and nurses working at a public hospital toward research and use of research in clinical practice. . Material and Methods: Data was collected from midwives and nurses using the ‘Identification Form’, which was developed in line with the literature, the ‘Assessment Form for Midwives’ and Nurses’ Attitudes Toward Research’, and the ‘Attitudes Toward Scientific Research Scale’. Results: Among the midwives and nurses who participated in the study, 93.8% were female and mean age was 30.17±6.21. It was found that 20.3% of midwives and nurses regularly followed periodicals, that 70.3% attended scientific meetings/seminars, and that 82.8% reported to use research results in care practices. While there were no significant differences in the attitudes toward scientific research sub scale scores according to age, duration of employment, work unit, and status of working at a unit appropriate for one’s education (p>0.05); there were significant differences according to the level of vocational education and marital status (p<0.05). Conclusion: It was determined that the majority of midwives and nurses had positive opinions on scientific research.
