Abstract:

Katılımcıların %7,3’ü dalıştan önce, %19,5’i dalış esnasında ve %9,8’i dalış sonrasında kaza geçirmiştir.

Water Products Engineering Equipmented Dive Assessment in Health and Safety of Work
2020

Abstract:

Although there are various scientific studies on work health and safety in Turkey, there is no comprehensive research on water products engineering and equipped immersion issues. This study aims to identify the attitudes and behaviors of the water products engineers in the field of work health and safety, safety awareness, work accidents and experience of occupational diseases. The data in the study were collected in June-September 2017 through the facing-to-face survey route with 123 water products engineers who operate in the Egean region’s farming sectors and universities in this region and performed equipped immersions due to their work. The results show that 48.8% of the participants smoked and 78% used alcohol. 75.6% of participants know the definition of occupational disease. In addition, 4.9% of the patients have joint diseases (romatism, menus, etc.)It has been found that eye disorders are present and 4.9% of them have chronic sinusitis and hearing loss disorders. According to the results, 53.7 per cent of them were regularly trained by the institution in which they work in relation to the risks that they may face in their professions. In the survey, the question of how dangerous the instrumental immersion was, 7.3% of participants assessed as dangerous, 75.6% dangerous and 17.1% very dangerous. 7.3 percent of participants had accidents before immersion, 19.5 percent during immersion and 9.8 percent after immersion. The study found that the most important risk factors that affect health and safety at work are physical and ergonomic risk factors. One of the significant results of the study is that professional qualifications for equipped immersion are not controlled and that the’s awareness of this issue is quite low. Improving the conditions of work health and safety in the water products sector, which is of great importance for Turkey, is very important for the sector to grow safely.

Abstract:

There are various scientific studies on occupational health and safety in Turkey. However, there is no comprehensive research on fishery engineering and scuba-diving. In this study, attitudes and behaviors of fishery engineers who perform scuba-diving, on security, security awareness, accidents at work and occupational diseases were aimed to determine. Study was conducted between June and September 2017. A total of 123 aquaculture engineers and academicians joined work. Results showed that 48.8% of the participants were smokers and 78% were alcohol consumers. 75.6% of the participants know the definition of occupational disease. In addition, 4.9% of patients had joint diseases (rheumatism, meniscus, etc.), Eye disorders and 4.9% of them had chronic sinusitis and hearing loss. It was determined that 53.7% of them were regularly trained about the scuba-diving related occupational risks. While 7.3% of respondents found their job to be dangerless, 75.6% and 17.1% of them reported the occupation to be dangerous and very dangerous, respectively. 7.3% of the participants had an accident before diving, 19.5% during diving and 9.8% after diving. The most important risk factors affecting occupational health and safety were physical and ergonomic risk factors. Another result of the study is that the professional competencies for the scuba-diving have not been controlled and the awareness of the enterprises on this subject was quite low. Improving conditions related to occupational health and safety in the fisheries sector, which is of great importance for Turkey is very crucial for the safe growth of the fisheries and aquaculture sector.
