Abstract:

Savings are a value that allows you to think, plan and avoid unpredictable circumstances that may occur during the process while using existing resources. That is why it is very important to give children this value. In this regard, it is very clear that the family and the schools also play a functional role. It is unbearable that teaching books have transformed schools into an effective device in this sense. In fact, a privileged place has been assigned to the lesson books in the point of promoting the savings value and building a consciousness about this. This is not just a practice dedicated to today. It is known that a similar approach has been followed in the past. The last years of the Ottoman state have been a remarkable period of time in this regard. This study, moving from the basic thesis that the efforts to create savings awareness in children are not a new fact in this context, aims to compare how, with what dimensions the savings value is addressed in the recent period of Ottoman and current curriculum books. According to this purpose, the study is designed according to the document examination of the quality research methods. The data sources of the study are composed of 4 lesson books. Two of them are the teaching books of the Mushabât-i Ahlakiyah, which were read in the last years of the Ottoman State in the iptidai letters. The rest of these classes are present in the fourth and fifth classes. These books were noted to include the subject during the selection and to be passed by the approval of the official units. The data collected from these lessons are analyzed by content analysis. As a result, remarkable similarities and differences regarding the savings value have been detected in the curriculum books.
