The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between happiness and economic growth by using panel data analysis, using data from the 2012-2018 years of the G8 countries ranked first in the world in terms of development. According to the results obtained from the implemented GMM analysis, economic growth has a negative impact while statistically meaningful. However, the percentage of national income per person is positive. This means that the national income per capita in the G8 countries increases, the happiness also increases. Then, it was tried to determine with the help of the Granger causality test whether happiness and economic growth influence each other or not. According to Granger's causal analysis, a bilateral relationship between economic growth and happiness has been established.
The aim of this study is examine the relationship between happiness and economic growth for G8 countries which are in the top ranks in the world in terms of development and have high quality of life, for the period between 2012-2018 by using panel data analysis. According to the GMM analysis, while economic growth is statistically significant, it has a negative effect. In spite of that the coefficient of per capita income is positive. This means that happiness increases as per capita income increases in G8 countries. Finally, Granger causality test has been performed to determine whether happiness and economic growth affects each other. According to the findings of Granger causality analysis, there is bidirectional causality relationship between economic growth and happiness.
