Bu araştırmada, BİST Sürdürülebilirlik Endeksi’nde yer alan firmaların alternatif yöntem olarak finansal göstergeleri kullanılarak sürdürülebilirlik endeksi tahmin edilmiş ve mevcut sürdürülebilirlik endeksi ile önerilen yöntem sonucu elde edilen endeks değerleri karşılaştırılarak daha objektif ve kolay hesaplanabilir bir endeks elde edilip edilemeyeceği araştırılmıştır. Araştırmada kullanılan veri seti Sürdürülebilirlik Endeksi’nde 2014-2019 yılları arasında yer alan 48 firmadan oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada alternatif sürdürülebilirlik endeksinin tahmininde yapay sinir ağları yöntemiyle tahmin yapılmıştır. Yapılan sürdürülebilirlik endeksi tahminleri karşılaştırılarak etkin bir yöntem belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Yapay sinir ağları (YSA) yöntemi, doğrusal olmayan sistemlerin modellenmesinde başarılı bulunan bir tahmin aracı olarak sürdürülebilirlik endeks tahmininde etkili bir şekilde kullanılabilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucuna göre, yapay sinir ağında eğitim, doğrulama ve test aşamalarının her biri için kullanılan verilerin regresyon doğrusu üzerinde ya da çok yakınında olduğu ortaya konmuş olup, YSA modelinin etkili bir tahmin aracı olarak BİST Sürdürülebilirlik endeksinin hesaplanmasında kullanılabileceği görülmüştür.
In the study, the sustainability index is estimated via financial indicators of the companies in the BIST Sustainability Index, and it is investigated whether a more objective and easily computable index could be achived by comparing the current sustainability index with the index values obtained as a result of the proposed method. The research sample consists of 48 companies that are included in the Sustainability Index for the period of 2014-2019. The alternative sustainability index is estimated by using artificial neural networks. An effective method is determined by comparing the sustainability index estimates carried out. Artificial neural network management is used effectively in sustainability index estimation as a prediction tool that is found to be successful in modeling nonlinear systems. According to the results of the study, it is revealed that the data used for each of the training, verification and testing stages in the artificial neural network are above or very close to the regression line, and it is seen that the ANN model could be used as an effective estimation tool in calculating the BIST Sustainability Index.
