Abstract The Center for Demographic Studies of the University of Havana (CEDEM), in accordance with the process of updating the economic and social model of Cuba, presented in 2009 an evaluation of the demographic situation of the Cuban population, particularizing in a set of proposals for actions. This article updates what has been done since then, and includes the results of the investigations, monitoring of the demographic situation, training, sensitization and personnel training in population studies in different territories of the country, carried out by the CEDEM, with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and UNDP with PADIT, Articulated Platform for Territorial Integral Development, in that case, as of 2014. These actions allowed demographic characterizations to be obtained that included in the territories the situation of the structureand demographic dynamics, include views on fertility, mortality, migration, labor resources, family, demographic aging and spatial distribution of thepopulation, among other issues.
