Abstract:

Today, robots are increasingly and varied in almost every field of life, from the service sector to the military and security, from research and education to the health and entertainment sector, from personal care services to friendship and sexuality issues. This spreadness and diversity that the robot industry provides inevitably brings out the human-robot interaction and the ethical problems and disagreements that this interaction leads. Contemporary British writer Ian McEwan's novel Machines Like Me (2019) also passes through an alternative 80s in London in a period of artificial intelligence research and robotic products. The ethical problems arising in the interaction of the first humanity Adam and Havva with people, which has characteristics such as consciousness, free will and purpose, are in the center of the novel. This study deals with James H. Moor's "moral activity" (2011) taxonomy, then examines the ethical problems arising from human-robot interaction using three philosophical approaches (utilitaryism as a teleological ethical theory, Kant's categorical obligation concept as a deontological theory, and the task approach at first glance). In addition, in the context of ethical issues, the robot laws of Asimov and the place of Immanuel Kant (1724-1804) in the human-robot relationship of the "reversal of the copernic world" are discussed. In addition, the human-robot interaction in the novel challenges the perspective that predicts a human-centric essence and also opens to debate the balance of power for the benefit of man.
