Abstract:

ÖZET Amaç: Bu çalışmada daimi molar dişlerdeki okluzal çürüklerin teşhisinde DIAGNOdent ve Caries ID çürük teşhis cihazlarının in vitro ortamda performanslarının karşılaştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Bu çalışmada oklüzal yüzlerinde kavitasyon bulunmayan 36 adet çekilmiş daimi molar diş kullanıldı. Her bir dişin santral fossasındaki fissürler DIAGNOdent ve Caries ID çürük teşhis cihazları ile bir deneyimli gözlemci tarafından skorlandı. Gold Standart amacıyla dişler histolojik kesitlere ayrıldı. Spearman’ın korelasyon katsayısı testi, histolojik muayene bulgularını diğer bulgularla ilişkilendirmek için kullanıldı. Çürük teşhis cihazlarının duyarlılık, özgüllük ve doğruluk değerleri de ölçüldü. Bulgular: Spearman’ın korelasyon katsayısı testine göre, histolojik muayene ile iki çürük teşhis cihazı arasında istatistiksel olarak önemli bir farklılık ortaya çıkmamıştır (p>0.05). DIAGNOdent’in duyarlılık değeri 0.97, özgüllük değeri 1.00, ve doğruluk değeri 0.91 olarak bulunmuştur. Caries ID’in duyarlılık değeri 0.94, özgüllük değeri 1.00, ve doğruluk değeri 0.88 olarak bulunmuştur. Sonuçlar: Çalışmadaki limitasyonlar göz önünde bulundurularak, DIAGNOdent ve Caries ID çürük teşhis cihazları için histolojik gözlem değerlendirildiğinde çürük teşhisi için benzer değerler ortaya çıkmıştır. DIAGNOdent ve Caries ID klinikte kullanım için uygundur. Anahtar Kelimeler: Çürük teşhisi, DIAGNOdent, Caries ID. ABSTRACT Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare the in-vitro performance of the DIAGNOdent with the Caries ID for occlusal caries detection in permanent molars. Materials and Methods: The study consisted of 36 extracted permanent human molar teeth with visually intact occlusal surfaces. Pits on the central fossa of each tooth were examined and scored for caries by one trained examiner using Caries ID and DIAGNOdent devices. The teeth were then sectioned at the specified test sites for histological examination as a gold standard. A Spearman's correlation coefficient was used to correlate findings of the present study. Sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of the devices were also measured. Results: A Spearman's correlation test revealed there were no statistically significantly differences among the Caries ID, the DIAGNOdent, and histological examination (p>0.05). Sensitivity for caries detection using the DIAGNOdent was 0.97, the specificity was 1.00, and the accuracy was 0.91. Sensitivity of the Caries ID for caries detection was 0.94, the specificity was 1.00, and the accuracy was 0.88. Conclusions: Taking the limitations of the current study into consideration, it can be concluded that the DIAGNOdent and the Caries ID are equally valid for caries detection compared to histological examination. The Caries ID and the DIAGNOdent can be used in clinical settings. Key Words: Caries Detection, DIAGNOdent, Caries ID.
