Abstract:

Introduction and Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the hygiene habits of patients carrying Essix plate during the post-orthodontic treatment period through surveys. Method and Requirements: The study included 120 patients between the ages of 18-40 (72 women, 48 men) who have completed orthodontic treatment and used Essix plates for retension purposes. All patients were surveyed by the same orthodontist with clinical experience. The survey examined the age, gender, methods and frequencies of patient plaque cleaning. Half of the patients said they cleaned their plates every time they were removed. According to the frequency of cleaning of plaques, there is a difference between the average age of patients (p <0,001). There is no difference in the average age in terms of how the plates are cleaned, the agent used for cleaning, difficulty in cleaning, views on the cleaning of the plates (p values are 0.833, 0.178, 0.120 and 0.25 respectively). The thought about the cleansing of discs is independent of gender (p =.871). According to age distribution, there is a statistically significant difference between the cleaning frequency of the plates, how it is cleaned, the view on the cleaning of the cleaning agent used (p <0,05). RELATED AND RESULTATED: It is clear that there is a variety of patients in terms of cleaning of Essix plates, patients prefer different materials to clean their plates.
