Abstract:

Purpose: Double death is a term that is often used to define the situations where a murderer commits suicide after a murder or where two people commits suicide together. Suicide cases are more common among two deaths. In the period 2013-2021, the incident site and death investigation reports were reviewed backward, the victims of double deaths were evaluated and discussed in the light of literature. We believe that the creation of a database where dual deaths are registered systematically throughout the country will keep light on the understanding of the dynamics of dual deaths and preventive measures. Method: The study of the site of the autopsy conducted between 2013-2021 in the Muğla Judicial Medical Branch Directorate and the death examination reports have been reviewed backward. Results: In our series, 11 two deaths are femicide-suicide, and nine of them were used as a murder tool. In one of the cases, the murder of a woman occurred with a cutting-edge tool, and in one with a condom head trauma. The result: all murders have a spouse/partner relationship. All of the victims are female and all of the victims are partner or former partner. In our series of facts, the data on the relationship between the dead and the murderer shows that double deaths are an indicator of the ultimate and most violent form of violence against women in our country.
