Abstract:

In this study, it is aimed to examine the companies that prepare consolidated balance sheets and consolidated income statements and operate in the field of health (hospital) by using the financial statement analysis method. Within the scope of the study, the annual reports of two different health companies, namely Lokman Hekim Engürüsağ A.Ş (Lokman Hekim) and MLP Sağlık Hizmetleri A.Ş and its Subsidiaries (MLP), obtained from the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) for the period 2017-2021, compiling, and their financial statements were created. Ratio-analysis and trend (trend percentages) analyses from financial statement analysis techniques were used. The financial viability indexes of each health company by years were calculated, and the relationship between profitability ratios and the Spearman correlation coefficient was examined. The findings showed strong and negative (rs= -0.72, p<0.05) between the financial viability index and the gross profit margin ratio; very strong and negative direction (rs= -0.81, p<0.01) between the operating profit margin ratio and financial viability index; the strong and negative direction between net profit margin ratio and financial viability index (rs= -0.79, p<0.01); and a very strong negative relationship (rs= -0.93, p<0.01) between return on equity ratio and financial viability index. The use of financial analysis techniques on consolidated financial statements prepared in accordance with universal accounting standards provides extensive information about the financial capacity of the group companies as a whole. The financial viability index, which is presented as an alternative to financial ratios, provides the reader with a convenient summary and valid information about the financial viability power of companies.
