Verbs are the word types indicating variations. A lot of features are operative in acquisition, learning and using the meaning of verbs. Sub-events and argument structure of event types took place in this structure can be considered among these features. Sub-events are the event types that are located below the action and allow the emergence of the real action. Sub-events are the event types that are included by the real action/event and provide the emergence of it. The features of verbal meaning are divided into two categories (structure and function) and verbs are classified as acts/actions, states and cases in teaching of the grammar. It is thought that the features of verbal meaning have particular efficacy in processing the meaning of an active verb and determining the sub-events of an event. The aim of this study is to draw attention to the sub-event structure so as to utilize it in mother tongue teaching. As a member of the event, sub-events are ranks for realization of it. They supply transition to another event or realization of the basic event. An event can be composed of multiple sub-events, or it can constitute a basic event by being repeated. These features are the key structures in comprehending the meaning of an event in grammar teaching, the relation of an event with the other events in word teaching, and determining the difference of the verbs that are semantically close to each other. These structures should be utilized in teaching Turkish
