Sosyal hizmet mesleğinde olduğu gibi eğitiminde de eleştirel düşünme oldukça önemli bir kavramdır. Eleştirel düşünme becerisinin yanında bilinçli farkındalık da özellikle son yıllarda ön plana çıkmaktadır. Bir sosyal hizmet öğrencisi uygulama ve meslek hayatında çeşitli müracaatçı sistemleri ile karşılaşacağı için eleştirel düşünme becerisini geliştirebildiği kadarıyla farkındalık düzeyinin de geliştirilmesi ve artırılması önemli hale geldiği düşünülmektedir. Bu araştırma Konya'da bulunan Sosyal hizmet öğrencilerinin eleştirel düşünme eğilimleri ile bilinçli farkındalıkları arasındaki ilişkiyi değişik açılardan incelenmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu çalışmanın evreni 2014-2015 Eğitim Öğretim yılında eğitim gören Konya'daki bütün sosyal hizmet öğrencilerinden oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma evreni 578 kişiden oluşmaktadır ve evrenin tamamına ulaşılması hedeflenmiş olup tamamına da ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen verilerin 510'u değerlendirmeye uygun görülmüştür. Araştırma tanımlayıcı nitelikte olup nicel araştırma deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada yüz yüze anket yöntemi kullanılarak elde edilen veriler SPSS 20.0 programında analiz edilmiş ve yorumlanmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında sosyal hizmet öğrencilerinin; "Eleştirel düşünme eğilimleri" ile "Bilinçli farkındalıkları" arasında anlamlı ilişki olduğu ve bu anlamlı farklılığın, bilinçli farkındalık (Eleştirel düş. ort. 2,80 ve Bilinç. Farkın. ort. 4,15) lehine olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Sosyal hizmet öğrencileri farkındalıkları daha yüksek çıkmasına rağmen eleştirel düşünme düzeyleri biraz daha az seviye dolduğu görülmüştür. Bu bağlamda öğrencilerin eleştirel bakış açısını geliştirebilmek, analiz ve değerlendirmeler yapabilmek ve için sosyal hizmet eğitiminde daha da objektif ve eleştirel bakılmaya ağırlık verilmesi önerilmektedir.
