Within the Ottoman educational system, teachers were referred to many names such as muallim, mudarris, mullahs and hodja. The understanding of teachership of Ottoman Empire is not able to evaluate from a single perspective. Because, understanding of teachers of the Ottomans as showed variability as a vertical in 600 years’ time and demonstrated differences as a horizontal in a wide geography all over the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Mediterranean. However, if it should to make an overall assessment, the teachers of Ottoman have essentially inherited their all the features from Islamic educational tradition. In this study, the approach of Ottoman teachership will be discussed as general and will be focus on the basic outlines and problem areas about issue.
