Abstract:

The aim of this study is to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool to determine the transparency levels of schools based on teacher perceptions. For this purpose, the theoretical framework was determined by determining the sub-dimensions that constitute organizational transparency based on the literature. In order to strengthen the content validity while creating the item pool, code sets thought to represent the determined sub-dimensions were created and candidate scale items were written for each code. For the resulting item pool, the opinions of 25 academicians, including field experts and assessment and evaluation experts, were taken and arrangements were made on the items. Thus, candidate scale form consisting of 24 items was created. Data were collected from two different study groups for the factor analyzes for the construct validity of the scale. As a result of the exploratory factor analysis, it was determined that the "School Transparency Scale" consisted of 3 factors and the total variance rate explained was 73,707%. The structure was examined with confirmatory factor analysis, and it was seen that the construct validity of the scale was statistically confirmed. In addition, the Cronbach Alpha coefficient (.95), which was examined for the reliability of the scale, shows that the scale is a reliable measurement tool. As a result, it is compatible with the theoretical ground; Consisting of "Participation in Decisions", "Information Flow" and "Accountability" sub-dimensions; 16 items; a valid and reliable measurement tool has been developed.
