Abstract:

Logistics capacities and infrastructures of countries are a key point in international trade. In this respect, countries had to perform more in order to be in the top ranks of the Logistics Performance Index. The Logistics Performance Index shows the situation regarding the logistics activities of the countries. In the logistics performance index, there is information about the customs regulations of the countries, logistics costs and the status of the infrastructure used in the transportation modes. The Logistics Performance Index is a scoring system that evaluates the logistics status of countries in six different sub-dimensions (1: lowest, 5: highest) with the questionnaire method. This study is based on the Logistics Performance Index reports published by the World Bank. The first publication of the Logistics Performance Index was 2007, and the last publication was 2018. This study is based on the data between 2007 and 2018. The global dimension of logistics and Türkiye's Logistics Performance Index (LPE) were examined. Türkiye has made progress in terms of logistics performance evaluation and sub-components in recent years, but there has not been a significant difference in its place in the world ranking. Türkiye should make more intensive studies on the necessary technical and legal regulations to improve all sub-dimensions of the Logistics Performance Index.
