Bu çalışmanın amacı, muhasebe meslek mensuplarının hizmetlerini yerine getirirken karşılaştıkları sorunları ve toplumun çeşitli kesimlerinden olan beklentilerini ortaya koymaktır. Bu amaca ulaşmak için Kocaeli’nde faaliyet gösteren 274 muhasebe meslek mensubuna anket uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler tanımlayıcı istatistikler ve frekans dağılımı ile analiz edilip sonuçlara ulaşılmıştır. Analiz sonucuna göre elde edilen bulgular muhasebe meslek mensuplarının karşılaştıkları sorunlar ve beklentileri olarak ele alınmıştır. Ulaşılan sonuçlardan meslek mensuplarının beklentileri ise mükellefler, Maliye Bakanlığı, Serbest Muhasebeci Mali Müşavirler Odası ve TÜRMOB açısından açıklanmıştır. Araştırmanın bulgularına göre muhasebe meslek mensuplarının en fazla karşılaştığı sorunları yoğun iş yükü nedeniyle özel hayata yeterli zaman kalmadığı ve mükelleflerin muhasebe ücretlerini ödemelerindeki zorlukların mevcut olduğu biçiminde bulunmuştur. Ayrıca muhasebe meslek mensuplarının toplumun çeşitli kesimlerinden en fazla hangi beklentilerde olduğuna ilişkin bulgular incelendiğinde ise muhasebe meslek mensuplarının mükelleflerden mükellefler sorumluluklarının bilincinde olmalı; Maliye Bakanlığı’ndan vergi mevzuatında yapılacak değişikliklerde muhasebecilerin görüşlerinin de alınması gerekir; Serbest Muhasebeci Mali Müşavirler Odası ve TÜRMOB’ dan mevzuat değişikliklerinin en kısa sürede meslek elemanlarına bildirilmesi gerekir ve meslek mensupları arasında haksız rekabetin önlenmesi gerekir biçiminde beklentilerinin olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

The aim of this study is to reveal the problems faced by accounting professionals while performing their services and their expectations from various segments of the society. To achieve this aim, a questionnaire was applied to 274 accounting professionals working in Kocaeli. The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and frequency distribution. The findings obtained according to the results of the analysis were handled as the problems faced by the accounting professionals and their expectations. The expectations of the professionals were explained in terms of taxpayers, the Ministry of Finance, the Chamber of Certified Public Accountants and TÜRMOB. According to the findings of the research, it was found that the most common problems faced by accounting professionals are that there is not enough time for private life due to the heavy workload and there are difficulties in paying the taxpayers' accounting fees. In addition, when the findings about what accounting professionals expect from various segments of the society were examined, it was seen that the participants’ expectations were that accounting professionals should be aware of taxpayers’ responsibilities, the Ministry of Finance should receive accountants’ opinions on the changes to be made in the tax legislation, the Chamber of Certified Public Accountants and TÜRMOB should notify the professionals of the legislative changes as soon as possible, and unfair competition among the professionals should be prevented.
