Nikaia’da Doç. Dr. Aygün Ekin Meriç başkanlığında yürütülen Tiyatro kazılarında, kuzeybatı bölümde Asklepios rahibi Publius Claudius Calpurnianus’a ait yuvarlak kaide üzerinde bir onur yazıtı bulunmuştur.
in Nikaia. In the theatrical excavations carried out under the presidency of Dr. Aygün Ekin Meriç, in the northwestern part, an honorary note was found on the round kaide of the Asklepios priest Publius Claudius Calpurnianus. The honored person is the son of the monk of Emperor Hadrianus and belongs to one of the famous families of the city. The charitable aid Hadrianus made after the earthquake in the 120th century is well known. It could not be very appropriate that someone who was the son of the priest Hadrianus also served as the priest of the cult of Asklepios. One of the family members may think that this statue has been drawn up. As the priest of Asklepios in Nikaia, he has not captured any foundations until now. The culture is as important for the region as it is for Nikaia. Asklepios, therefore, played an important role as a "savior" god, especially during a catastrophe like a earthquake. As his father and son's close relationship had Hadrianus and the priest Asklepios made us focus on the earthquake of the 120th century in our mind.
In the northwest corner of the theatre-excavations under the leadership of Dr. Aygün Ekin Meriç in Nikaia a honorific round basis (originally with statue) for the Asclepius priest Publius Claudius Calpurnianus was detected. The person honoured was son of the priest of the ruler Hadrian and member of an influential family of the city. The role of Hadrian as a benefactor in rebuilding the city after the earthquake of 120 AD is well known. His priest may be crucial that his son was invested a priest of the Asclepius cult. A family member may also have erected the basis. A priest of Asclepios is not attested yet, in the city. The cult is important for the city and the region, though Asclepios, therefore, „a Saviour” god, probably played a significant role during a catastrophe like an earthquake. The close connection of father and son as well as of Hadrian and Asclepius priest focuses our minds on the earthquake of 120 AD.
