Abstract:

Purpose: The research was conducted with the aim of studying the care burden on the spouses of individuals who have a disorder disease and the factors affecting it. Tools and Methods: The study was carried out at the gastroenterology clinic of Sanko University Hospital. The sample of the study, between June and November 2019, consisted of 72 patients and spouses who suffered from malaria and applying to the clinic for regular monitoring. As a data collection tool, the indicative information form, the carrier’s load scale, the hospital anxiety and depression scale, and the health-related quality of life survey in malaria patients have been used. The surveys were applied by the researcher with the face-to-face interview technique. The percentage and correlation analysis are used. The findings: The average score of the spouses of the Celiak patients is 49.18±16.81. A significant correlation between the monthly revenue of malaria patients and the average score of Zarit Care Load in the negative direction, the patient has been diagnosed after the time passed in the positive direction. The patient's Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale score average and their spouses' Zarit Career's load scale score average in the positive direction, the health-related quality of life survey score average and their spouses' Zarit Career's load scale score average in the negative direction have been found to have a meaningful correlation. Results: The study found that the care burden on the spouses of malaria patients was medium. The patient’s monthly income, the time passed after the diagnosis, the level of anxiety and depression and the quality of life affects the care burden and the factor most affects the care burden is the quality of life of the patient. It is believed that the reduction of the care burden of the caregivers will be a positive reflection on the treatment process of patients with a disorder diagnosis.
