Abstract:

Classical Turkish literature has existed and continued in a tradition. Although it is said that this literature is fed by foreign traditions, it has shown that it lives as a part of the society in which it exists. These traces, which are not found in every poet and writer to the same degree, have appeared more intensely in some artists and very rarely in others. According to common belief, it has been examined that the traces of Daily life and society are not seen much in poets who write about religious characteristics. However, it is possible to see the traces of cultural life in the work of Birgivî, who is a scholar and mystic. Originally from Balıkesir, but buried in Birgi, Muhammed b. Pir Ali al-Birgivî (929/1523) is a prolific writer with many works written in Arabic and Turkish. In addition to his role as a writer, he is a professor of mysticism. Risâle-i Birgivî, more commonly known as Vasiyyet-nâme, is one of the Turkish works that he wrote to oppose the superstitions, fallacies and irregularities of the time he wrote his work and to show people the truth. In this work, in which he gives information about the religion of Islam, all kinds of morals, faiths, beliefs, lifestyles, the author intended to guide the religious, social and cultural lives of the people who could read it. In this work, which was written in prose, Birgivî gave examples from the society, and used the elements from the people’s traditions and behavior. In this pamphlet, which also contains information about the administrators of the period, findings about the period in which Birgivî lived and social life were revealed. In this study; both traces of the tradition and the relationship of social life in this work, which was written in the Islamic tradition, were emphasized. The text written by Birgivî in prose and the work written in verse by a poet with the pseudonym Bahtî were examined together. The features of daily life in the work have been determined and presented.
