Abstract:

In the field of modern philosophy, animals have been rightly the subject of an important discussion. Peter Singer started this process, and many important philosophers took part in this discussion later. Richard Sorabji said: The Western philosophy has led to a major crisis, especially in the field of moral philosophy and mind philosophy, with its approach to animals. The emergence of this crisis in the field of moral philosophy is based on our ignorance of our moral responsibilities towards animals. Man has placed himself at the top of the hierarchy of the beasts as a value, and as a result, he has found in himself the right to do what the animals want; he has easily killed and killed the animals for various reasons. Sorabji begins this crisis with Aristotle, as Aristotle points out that the “man” is separated from the animals by the “mind/rationality”, which is a merely self-specific species, and that the animals are naturally existing for humans. Many philosophers have made the distinction between "man" and "non-man animal" a strong philosophical tradition with similar explanations. But the rebellion against this separation, the objections are increasing. Environmental ethics, Beneficiaries, Cantists and Aristotle have worked on this. In this work we will stand on the Aristotle philosophers Alasdair MacIntyre, Rosalind Hursthouse and Martha Nussbaum. We will carefully read these philosophers, but if Sorabji’s crisis is based on Aristotle, we will emphasize that the gain of the crisis is also related to getting away from Aristotleism, and that Aristotle, the first biologist, cannot be read in the same line as the philosophers like Descartes.
