Durmuş Dede Tekkesi, Osmanlı tarihi sürecinde Galata’ya tâbi, Rumelihisarı’nda Bebek Mahallesi Kayalar mezarlığının sonunda, deniz kenarında, iki katlı bir yapıydı. Tekke, Hasan Zarifi Efendi (v. 1569) tarafından 1528 yılında inşa ettirilmiştir. Bu zat Hac yolculuğu sırasında Kahire’de İbrahim-i Gülşenî (v. 1533)’ye bağlandığından bu tekke uzun yıllar Gülşeni tekkesi olarak faaliyet göstermiştir. XVII. yüzyıla gelindiğinde Evliya Çelebi bu tekkeyi önemli Bektaşi yapılarından biri olarak zikretmektedir. Rivayete göre Sultan I. Ahmet döneminde bu tekkede postnişin olan Akkirmanlı Ali Baba’nın hemşehrisi Durmuş Dede, Müslüman kaptan ve gemicileri arasında çok büyük bir şöhret kazanmış, bu sebeple tekke o zamandan itibaren onun adıyla anılmıştır. Tekke XVIII. yüzyılın ikinci yarısında Cerrahi tarikatına geçmiştir. Durmuş Dede Tekkesi’nin 1826’da Bektaşilik yasaklandıktan sonra Halvetiye’nin Şabaniye koluna bağlandığını ifade eden kaynaklar bulunmaktadır. Arşiv kayıtları XIX. yüzyılın ikinci yarısına gelindiğinde tekkeyi yine Cerrahi olarak göstermektedir. 1894 yılında bu tekkenin idaresi kendisine tevdi edilen Şeyh Eşref Efendi burada uzun yıllar şeyhlik yapmıştır. 1925 yılında tüm tekke ve türbelerin kapatılmasına kadar bilfiil faaliyetlerine devam eden, Boğaz’daki yalıları hatırlatan özellikler gösteren Durmuş Dede Tekkesi, 1938 sonrası Bebek-Rumelihisarı kara yolunun genişletilmesi sırasında yıktırılarak tamamen ortadan kaldırılmıştır.
