Okula uyum, okulun mevcut anlayış ve işleyişinin öğrencilerin özellikleriyle uyumlu bir şekilde birleşerek etkili bir öğrenme ortamı oluşturma sürecidir. Okula uyum sağlayan öğrencilerin, akademik performansları yüksek, akranları ve öğretmenleriyle kurmuş oldukları ilişki güven temeline dayanmaktadır. Okula uyum problemi yaşayan öğrenciler, akranları ve bulunduğu sosyal yapı içerisinde olumlu bir kişilik geliştirmede problem yaşayan, akademik yönden yetersiz öğrencilerdir. Türk eğitim sisteminde 2012 yılında yapılan değişiklikle beraber 4+4+4 zorunlu eğitim sistemine geçilmiştir. Bu sistem değişikliği; okula başlama yaşı, beşinci sınıfın ortaokul bünyesinde yer alması gibi değişimlere sebep olmuştur. Bu çalışmanın amacı, beşinci sınıf öğrencilerinin ortaokula uyumuna ilişkin branş öğretmenlerinin görüşlerinin incelenmesidir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2023- 2024 eğitim öğretim yılında İstanbul ilinde Milli Eğitim Bakanlığına bağlı okullarda görev yapan 24 ortaokul branş öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden betimsel model kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak 4 maddeden oluşan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu hazırlanmıştır. Görüşme formunun hazırlanmasında uzman görüşünden yararlanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde verilen yanıtların frekanslarına bakılıp yüzdelik hesaplaması yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonucunda elde edilen bulgulardan bazıları şöyledir: Çalışmaya katılan 24 branş öğretmeninden %50’si beşinci sınıf öğrencilerinin ilkokul bünyesinde yer alması gerektiğini ifade ederken %50’si ortaokul bünyesinde yer alması gerektiğini belirtmiştir. Yine çalışma sorularına verilen yanıtlar incelendiğinde branş öğretmenleri, beşinci sınıf öğrencilerinin ortaokula ve branş öğretmenlerine uyum sağlamada problem yaşadıklarını ifade ederken, beşinci sınıf öğrencilerinin akran zorbalığına maruz kaldıklarını da belirtmişlerdir.
Adaptation to school is the process of creating an effective learning environment by combining the current understanding and functioning of the school in harmony with the characteristics of the students. Students who adapt to school have high academic performances and the relationships they establish with their peers and teachers are based on trust. Students who have problems adapting to school are academically inadequate students who have problems developing a positive personality within their peers and social structure. With the change made in the Turkish education system in 2012, the 4+4+4 compulsory education system was introduced. This system change; It has caused changes such as the school starting age and the inclusion of the fifth grade within the secondary school. The purpose of this study is to examine the opinions of subject teachers regarding the adaptation of fifth grade students to secondary school. The study group of the research consists of 24 secondary school branch teachers working in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in Istanbul province in the 2023-2024 academic year. A descriptive model, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the research. A semi-structured interview form consisting of 4 items was prepared as a data collection tool in the study. Expert opinion was used in preparing the interview form. In the analysis of the data, the frequencies of the answers given were looked at and percentages were calculated. Some of the findings obtained as a result of the study are as follows: While 50% of the 24 branch teachers who participated in the study stated that fifth grade students should be included in the primary school, 50% stated that they should be included in the secondary school. Again, when the answers to the study questions were examined, subject teachers stated that fifth grade students had problems adapting to secondary school and branch teachers, and they also stated that fifth grade students were exposed to peer bullying.
