Abstract:

Purpose: The increasing use of online communication makes the phenomenon of cyber harassment, which affects the psychosocial state of children in today’s world, more dangerous. In addition to measuring the circumstances of cyber harassment and being a cyber victim, this scale also addresses the situation of being a cyber audience. The measurement of the sub-dimensions of the cyber audience has been made in order to identify the problem in a comprehensive manner and to be a guide for preventive programs in order to identify, correlate and methodologically adapt to the Turkish and to study the psychometric characteristics of the cyber harassment triangular scale. Tools and Methods: This study is in the defining, correlational and methodological design. Between January 2018 and September 2019, 1256 children between the ages of 9 and 17 were performed. In the data collection phase, it was collected using the sociodemographic form and the Triangle of Cyber Abuse. Explanatory and verifying factor analysis, Cronbach alpha and material total score were analyzed. The scale consists of 35 matters and three sub-dimensions. The three lower scales revealed 57% of the total variance. Description Factor loads are between 0.41-0.66, 0.38-0.64 and 0.64-0.73 for the first subdimensional. The Cronbach alpha ratio for the sum of the scale is 0.87, the Cronbach alpha values for the lower scales: 0.66, 0.80 for the cyber victim, 0.87 for the cyber audience. The cyber harassment triangle measurement has been found to be a valid and reliable measurement tool for the sampling of Turkish children. This scale can be thoroughly evaluated by treating children’s experiences in a three-dimensional manner. It is an easy scale to use in the orientative quality for protective and preventive studies.
