Abstract:

The aim of this study is to study the levels of emotional intelligence of students studying at the Science Arts Center, an official public and a private school. The study was carried out with a total of 137 (51.70) students from the Sakarya Science and Arts Center at the equivalent and different class levels, with 51 (19.24%) of the official public school and 77 (29.06%) of the private school selected with appropriate sampling, showing normal development. In the study used the causal comparison model, the data was obtained with the Bar-On Emotional Intelligence Test Child Form (EQi:YV). The analysis of the data obtained in the study used frequency, percentage, arithmetic average, t-test for independent groups, one-way variance analysis (ANOVA) and Kruskal-Wallis H test. In data analysis the computer statistical software program was used, based on p<.05 as a level of importance. As a result, there was no statistically meaningful difference between the student's emotional intelligence score and the student's emotional intelligence score of the other type of school.
