Günümüzde sanata ilgi duyan pek çok insan sanat eserlerini ziyaret etmek için farklı şehirlere ve bölgelere seyahat etmektedir. Kültür turizmi kapsamı altında ifade edilen bu seyahatlerin temel amacı ulaşılmak istenen ülke, şehir yada bölgenin kültürüne, halkın yaşam tarzına, tarihine, mimarisine ve sanatına ait bilgiler elde etmek ve sıralanan tüm bu unsurların katılımıyla arzu edilen bir turistik deneyim yaşamaktır. Bulunduğumuz coğrafyanın çok farklı medeniyetlere, kültürlere, sanat anlayışlarına ev sahipliği yapmış olması ülkemizi alternatif turizm türleri arasında yer alan kültür turizmi açısından çok değerli kılmaktadır. Elbette ülkemizi kültür ve sanat turizmi açısından değerli kılan başka bir özellik ise bu coğrafyada iz bırakmış, arkasında önemli tarihi eserler bırakmış olan sanatçılardır. Bu değerli sanatçılardan biri de 1490 yılında Kayseri ilinin Ağırnas köyünde dünyaya gelen Mimar Sinan'dır. Mimar Sinan yaşadığı dönem içerisinde cami, mescit, türbe, köprü, saray, kervansaray, mahzen ve hamam gibi pek çok yapıya imzasını atmış ve Osmanlı klasik mimarisinin şekillenmesinde ise büyük rol oynamıştır. Ortaya çıkarmış olduğu pek çok eser ile Osmanlı Türk mimarisini zirveye taşıyan Mimar Sinan, aynı zamanda da bu eserler sayesinde dünyayı etkilemeyi başarmıştır. Böylesine önemli sanatçıların yetişmesinde elbette doğduğu toprakların, içinde bulunduğu kültürün, halkın geçim kaynaklarının ve yaşadığı dönemin büyük etkileri bulunmaktadır. Kültür ve sanat turistlerinin Mimar Sinan'ın pek çok eserini ziyaret etmesinin yanı sıra doğduğu ve yirmi iki yaşına kadar bulunduğu kasabanın da bu açıdan önemli ve çekici unsurlar barındıracağı düşüncesiyle bu çalışmanın yapılmasına karar verilmiştir. Çalışmada Ağırnas Kasabası'nın sahip olduğu kültürel, tarihi ve doğal özellikler ortaya konularak kasabanın turizm potansiyeli kültür ve sanat turizmi açısından incelenmeye çalışılmıştır.
Today, many people who are interested in art travel to different cities and regions to visit their works of art. The main purpose of these trips expressed under the scope of cultural tourism is to obtain information about the culture of the country, city or region, the way of life, history, architecture and art of the people and to experience the desired tourist experience with the participation of all these elements. The fact that the geography we find has hosted many different civilizations, cultures, art concepts makes our country very valuable in terms of cultural tourism that is among alternative tourism types. Of course, another feature that makes our country valuable in terms of culture and art tourism is the artists who have left traces in this geography and left important historical works behind it. One of these valuable artists is the architect Sinan, who was born in 1490 in the village of Ağırnas in the Kayseri province. In the period in which the architect Sinan lived, he signed many structures such as mosque, mosque, turbe, bridge, palace, kervansaray, mahzen and hamam and played a major role in the formation of the Ottoman classical architecture. Architect Sinan, who brought the Ottoman Turkish architecture to the top with many works he has revealed, has also succeeded in influencing the world thanks to these works. The growth of such important artists, of course, has the great effects of the land in which they are born, the culture in which they are, the resource of life of the people and the period in which they live. Cultural and art tourists have visited many works of the architect Sinan and the city where he was born and was up to twenty-two years old will also have important and attractive elements in this regard. In the study, the cultural, historical and natural characteristics of the town has been revealed and the tourism potential of the town has been sought to be studied in terms of cultural and art tourism.
