Today, one of the most important means of producing and sharing rents through urban spaces is urban transformation projects. Although these projects claim that the aim of the improvement of the city’s building stock and living conditions is to make urban spaces healthier, as a result of the transformations carried out, the cities, often, become the new intervention spaces of the private sector. However, these transformations, which are also supported by the central administration by various laws, cause some social problems in the city, such as social separation, polarization and dislocation. From this point of view, urban transformation projects are often in a state of debate in terms of urban law. In addition, it is possible to say that these projects also lead to housing rights violations. The violations of the housing rights, which are much more than the right to residence, are increasingly exposed to the socio-economically weak sections of society, and this section is entering a struggle to protect the housing rights. In this context, this study aims to pursue the residential rights struggle through the "Tozkoparan Urban Transformation Project", which is one of the important examples of urban transformation projects planned to be carried out in Istanbul. In this direction, in the framework of the work, deep discussions were held with the actors of the urban transformation project planned to be carried out in Tozkoparan. In the light of the data obtained as a result of the discussions, the discussion of urban transformation through both the concepts of urban and residential rights and the forecast of the actors related to the new living area that will arise after the implementation of the transformation project is planned. Thus, the objective is to identify the differences between the physical space and social life targeted by the actors planning urban transformation in the area and the expectations of the users of the area.
