Abstract:

Since it is thought that the self-efficacy levels of individuals will directly affect the individual psychologically in case of epidemics and diseases, our study aimed to examine the self-efficacy perception levels of the students of the faculty of sports sciences during the coronavirus pandemic. The research population consists of undergraduate students enrolled in the Faculty of Sports Sciences of Munzur University in 2021. The sample consisted of 158 undergraduate students randomly selected from the Faculty of Sport Sciences of Munzur University. Personal information form and Academic Self-Efficacy Scale developed by Owen and Froman (1988) and adapted into Turkish by Ekici (2012) were used to determine the demographic characteristics of the participants. Skewness and kurtosis values were examined to determine whether the data were normally distributed. As a result of these tests and controls, it was determined that the research data were parametric. For this reason, t-test and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used. It was determined that there was no statistically significant difference in academic self-efficacy levels of Munzur University Faculty of Sport Sciences students according to gender, age, class and department variables. A statistically significant difference was found between the variable of having Covid-19 disease and academic self-efficacy levels. In line with the findings of the study, it was determined that the academic self-efficacy levels of Munzur University Faculty of Sport Sciences students were 28.71 in the social status sub-dimension, 47.80 in the cognitive practices sub-dimension, and 9.86 in the technical skills sub-dimension. When the total score of the academic self-efficacy scale is examined, it is seen that the average score of the students is 86.42, which is below the average.
