Abstract The context of university teaching is very complex, regardless of the area and, in this sense, it is urgent to be investigated, especially from the point of view of teachers, as in the present case. The aim of this study was to analyze and understand the professional practice of university professors of Physical Education. From the qualitative approach, 11 semi-structured interviews were conducted with professors from an undergraduate course in Physical Education at a public university, in addition to the analysis of their Lattes Curriculum. It was possible to conclude that the teachers are satisfied with their professional choices and seek to organize themselves in order to accomplish the academic activities. However, problems such as high workload, relationship conflicts, lack of adequate infrastructure, among others, generate difficulties in the profession's daily life and can impact the teacher's health.
