Abstract:

The word diabetes mellitus, the scientific name of diabetes, means passing and going in Greek and first M.S. 1 . It was used by Arateus, a Roman physician who lived in Kapadok in the century. In medieval Europe, the disease was called mellitus, which means bull sugar due to the patient’s sugar in the urine. Thomas Willis, who determined that the urine of diabetes contains sugar, first named diabetes Mellitus in 1764. Diabetes mellitus is an endocrine disease that is common in dogs, characterized by a deficiency in carbohydrates, protein and fat metabolism. Depending on the severity of metabolic disorder, the disease characterized by clinical symptoms such as asymptomatic or polydipsy, polyuria, polyphagia, weight loss and weakness affects many organs and systems. In this collection, the classification of diabetes mellitus in dogs, etiology, pathogenesis, clinical findings, laboratory findings, diagnosis and submission are transmitted.
