Purpose: Tyol and dysulphite levels have been shown to increase in inflammatory diseases as a indicator of total oxidation status. In this study, we aimed at investigating the increase in the blood levels of thyol and disulfite or the rates of thyol/disulfite in vitiligo patients and determining their availability as a new prognostic inflammatory indicator. Method and method: Native thyol, total thyol and disulfite levels were studied in 30 clinically diagnosed vitiligo patients and in 30 healthy control groups. Native/total thyol, disulfit/native thyol and disulfit/total thyol are compared between two groups. These measurements and the correlation between the Vitiligo Area and the Violence Index values were also studied in Vitiligo patients. Results: The total thyol levels were not statistically meaningful compared to the control group in Vitiligol patients, while the thyol levels were significantly higher (p=0,085), while the thyol levels were significantly higher (p=0,047) but the native thyol levels were similar. In addition, the rates of disulfit/native tyol (p=0,049; p<0,05) and disulfit/total tyol (p=0,049) were also higher than in the control group in vitiligol patients. There was a significant correlation between the values of the Vitiligo Area and the Violence Index and the levels of total thyol (p=0,017) and disulfit (p=0,042). Result: As a result of oxidative stress and tissue inflammation, a significant increase in blood dysulfite levels and blood dysulfite/native thyol, dysulfite/total thyol levels showing thyol/disulfite imbalance in vitiligo. Also, dysulphite and total thyol levels showed a clear positive correlation with vitiligo severity.
