Abstract:

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, various measures have been taken all over the world, and in this process, healthcare professionals have assumed the highest level of social responsibility. Health workerparents faced various difficulties during this period when they took on their work and family responsibilities. One of them is the situation of health workerparents who have children aged 3-6 years. In this study, the views of healthcare workerparents about the family time they spend with their 3-6 year old children were examined. Mixed research method was used as the method, and the sample group of the study consisted of health workerparents working at Kütahya Health Sciences University Evliya Çelebi Training and Research Hospital. The sample group was determined by case sampling technique. The data of the study were collected by a questionnaire form developed by the researchers. The data were analyzed with statistical and descriptive analysis techniques. According to the results obtained from the research, health worker parents and their children were adversely affected by the pandemic period. Healthcare professionals with children between the ages of 3-6 had difficulties working under an intense workload at a time when their children's developmental support needs were at the highest level. It is recommended to reduce the workload of health workers who have children in the pre-school period and to carry out studies where educational programs are planned for parents in order to provide mental and psychological support to their children who are in a critical developmental period.
