Abstract:

The aim of the current study is to evaluate the services that school psychological consultants provide to Syrian refugee students. The research is conducted by the method of research. The participants of the study were determined by the aim-based sampling method and consisted of thirteen school psychological consultants. The data is collected using a semi-configured interview technique, and the analysis of the data is done using the content analysis technique. When the data obtained by the content analysis is assessed, nine of the participants have not participated in any training related to the services provided to refugees before, and four have participated; the training received is also "posttraumatic stress disorder, regret counseling and psychosocial intervention". Five of the participants are implementing the school guidance program for Syrian refugee students. The services offered are school and environmental adaptation, educational success, interpersonal relationships and safe/healthy life. It has also been shown that the services offered are gathered in the areas of personal, social and professional guidance; the services provided are gathered in the areas of preventive and developmental guidance in terms of the type of activity. As a result, it was achieved that psychological consultants would be beneficial to participate in practical service training courses aimed at refugees.
