Abstract:

The study aims to determine the impact of context-based learning on the achievements of 5th-class students towards the "Made in Change" unit. The research is designed according to the pre-test - last test control group model, which is from real testing models. The research was conducted using a semi-experimental method. The sample of the study consists of a total of 44 students, including 22 experiments and 22 control groups, studying in high school 5th grade. In the context-based learning framework for the "Made of Change" unit for use in the 5E learning model, the researchers have prepared 8 curriculum containing stories that contain contexts from daily life based on the 5E learning model. The unit "Material Change" is processed according to context-based learning in the experimental group, and in the control group it is completed in 20 lessons in both groups without any intervention. The data is obtained by the "Academic Success Test" used as the pre-application and post-application test. The study found that contextual-based learning, which contains contexts from the daily life applied to the experimental group in the teaching of the unit "Material Change", was more effective in the students' achievements towards the unit according to the control group in which the curriculum was followed.
