Abstract:

The concept of identity refers to the state of identification and identification of a person who wants to be a place in a society both against other people and within himself. This situation, which begins with the difference between me and the other, is a new form in every new environment that we encounter or in every change that we experience. The human being, which is a social being, is necessary to be peaceful with himself, to be accepted by society only by adopting the rules and identities surrounding him. In order to be a nation, people living in a part of a land drawn the boundaries must share a historical land or country, common myths, historical memory, massive public culture, common economy, and legal rights and duties. Therefore, many elements in the formation of peoples are actively involved. One of the most important elements of the national identity is possibly the homeland. Therefore, it is necessary to establish the devotion and loyalty of individuals to the country, to ensure the preservation of the land they belong to when the time comes, and to educate generations that will not avoid sacrifice, and to gain national identity consciousness, therefore, it is necessary to create the perception of the country in them. In this sense, the stories of Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu play an important role in the reanimation of the Turkish spirit and the construction of national identity. The people in Karaosmanoğlu's stories represent people from various sections involved in the war in the national fighting process. The stories, from the peasant to the light, from the young to the old, from the man to the woman, with all their naked eyes, show what they have lived during the war, what the rewards they have paid for the freedom and liberation of the homeland. Therefore, the story of Karaosmanoğlu's stories in the formation of national identity was questioned, and in this regard the stories were studied in the context of national identity building.
