Abstract:

Globalization is a social phenomenon that cannot be studied in one dimension in today’s conditions, which affects almost every field of life. The phenomenon of globalization, technological innovations, access to information and use of information can also be expressed as the approximation or integration of world economies. With the last quarter of the twentieth century, the developments in technology and accessibility have had different impacts on all the world’s economies. At this point of globalization, the discussions in economic literature generally revealed two different perspectives. One side considers globalization as an opportunity for countries to prosperity by the incentive of neoliberal economic policies and technological developments, while the other side claims that globalization is an element that increases the difference in income levels between countries and communities and accelerates the poor-rich distinction. The accelerated process of globalization in the early twenty-first century, however, is an economic phenomenon that lives simultaneously with its advantages and disadvantages, its advantages and disadvantages, its threats and its opportunities. Therefore, in this study, the idea is questioned whether the rapidly rising economic globalization in recent years, the impact of the technology and information economy in the context of free markets, is an opportunity or a threat to the world’s economies, and a study is carried out in the context of developed and developing countries.
