Abstract:

Finding different approaches to globalization is the difficulty in describing it based on a single fact or feature. Globalization is a phenomenon that must be addressed in the light of its economic, social, cultural and political characteristics. The aim of this study is to examine multinational companies that have become powerful actors of the globalized world as a result of the economic effects and these effects of globalization. In the study, the concept of globalization was explained in the light of approaches to globalization, then the place of multinational companies with increased economic power in the world economic system was mentioned and a view was given on the effects of multinational companies on Turkey, which is in the category of developing countries, in order to set an example. During the research period, the descriptive research method was used and the research was completed with a detailed archival research. As a result of the study, the strength of multinational companies in the economic field has been seen, but it has been revealed that this power is not at a level that can rival the nation-state in the developed country category. In addition; on nation-states such as Turkey, which is in the category of developing countries, multinational companies have greatly increased their economic powers; however, it has been observed that they are not exactly in a position to rival the relevant states.
