Ömer Seyfettin Türk Edebiyatında hikâyeleriyle tanınan bir yazardır. Bununla birlikte çeşitli süreli yayınlarda şiir de yayımlamış; ancak şairliği, daima hikâyeciliğinin gölgesinde kalmıştır. Yapılan son araştırmalar neticesinde bir kitap oluşturacak kadar şiiri bir araya getirilen Ömer Seyfettin’in metinleri, hem bireysel sanat anlayışını hem de dönemin estetik değerlerini yansıtması bakımından önemli bulunmuştur. Bu çalışmada Ömer Seyfettin’in şiirleri tasnif edilerek incelenmiş ve çeşitli başlıklar altında bir araya getirilmiştir. Oluşturulan başlıklar, söylem ve anlatım özelliklerine göre düzenlenmiştir. Yapılan inceleme esnasında, Ömer Seyfettin’in hikâyelerindeki tutumun aksine, bireyin iç dünyasına ve şiirin estetik niteliğine tahmin edilenden daha fazla önem verdiği ve bazı şiirlerinde, hikâyeciliğinden gelen birtakım anlatım unsurlarının varlığı dikkati çekmiştir. Bu unsurlar bazen bir söz veya söz grubu büyüklüğünde kimi zamansa anlatma esasına bağlı bir edebî metnin olay, şahıs, zaman ve mekân gibi unsurlarından bir veya birkaçını içerecek kadar kapsamlıdır. Dönemindeki şiir anlayışından ve hâkim söyleyiş biçimlerinden bir veya birkaç yönüyle ayrılan tüm bu noktalar, Ömer Seyfettin’in şairliği üzerine yapılmış daha önceki çalışmalardan hareketle ortaya konmuştur.
Omer Seyfettin is a writer known for his stories in Turkish literature. However, he also published poems in various periods; but his poetry has always remained in the shadow of his narrative. As a result of the latest research, the poems of Omer Seyfettin, which were gathered together enough to create a book, were important in terms of both the individual art understanding and the aesthetic values of the period. In this study, the poems of Omer Seyfettin were tested and collected under various titles. The created titles are arranged according to the characteristics of speech and narrative. During the study, opposed to the attitude of Omer Seyfettin in his stories, he took more attention to the individual's inner world and the aesthetic nature of the poem than expected, and in some poems he took the presence of a number of narrative elements from his narrative. These elements are sometimes sufficiently comprehensive to contain one or more of the elements of a literary text associated with the essence of narration, sometimes in the size of a word or word group, such as the event, person, time and place. All these points, separated by one or several aspects from the poetic understanding of the period and the forms of judgment, have been manifested by movement from the previous works on the poetry of Omer Seyfettin.

The texts of Ömer Seyfettin, who gathered enough poems to form a book as a result of the latest researches, were found important in terms of reflecting both the individual understanding of art and the aesthetic values of his period. In this study, Ömer Seyfettin's poems were classified and analyzed and brought together under various titles. The titles created are arranged according to their discourse and narrative features. During the examination, contrary to the attitude of Ömer Seyfettin in his stories, it was striking that the individual attaches more importance to the inner world and the aesthetic quality of the poetry than expected, and the presence of some narrative elements coming from storytelling in some of his poems. These elements are sometimes comprehensive enough to include one or more of the elements such as event, person, time and place of a literary text, sometimes in the size of a word or phrase and sometimes on the basis of narration. All these points, which differed in one or more aspects from the poetry understanding and the dominant style of speech in his period, have been revealed based on previous studies on Ömer Seyfettin's poetry.
